Joyful Learning: Engineers at Work

March 21 was a busy day at Marine Park Salt Marsh. The light rain was barely noticeable as our young engineers got to work exploring with roof gutters, sand, and water. Soon the shore had been transformed into a network of sluices, dams, levees, and channels. Along the way, more curiosities were discovered. What makes the brackish foam that collects along the water's edge? How can barnacles stick themselves to almost anything? Why does water start seeping into every hole we dig into the sand? Why is the sand black beneath the surface? Where are the crabs? Teamwork and problem-solving were plainly on display. Joyful learning!
