Kindergarten Explores the Science of Play...

... or is it the Play of Science? It's hard to tell which is which at the Hall of Science Outdoor Playground. Everything that's fun to do here is also a demonstration of physics: A log and chain pendulum bridge that challenges your sense of balance; tubes that serve as conduits for sound, water, air, and kids' bodies; a giant "spider's web" made of wrapped cables configured in a way that prevents falls; an Archimedes' screw that makes water travel uphill; a rope and steel bird's nest; and, one of our favorites, a grassy hill on which to roll down like a tumbleweed. Not, strictly speaking, part of Shore School, it was, nonetheless, a whole lot of fun.
